OP will be holding eight community meetings to discuss draft proposed changes to the existing zoning regulations. We’ve been working on revisions and reorganization of the zoning regulations for the last four years, and have received valuable input at task force, topic-focused working group, and community meetings. We are now preparing draft proposals for modernizing the zoning regulations, and are looking for your input at a series of community meetings, one in each ward, to be held in early December and early January. At these meetings, we will describe the process to date, present the draft proposals, and solicit and listen to community feedback. We will then make additional changes to the draft proposals, based on your comments, and take them to the Zoning Commission for consideration at public hearings.
This may not seem like a particularly fun way to spend a Saturday morning or a weekday evening, but this is important stuff. Zoning does, over time, impact the form and character of your neighborhood and the city as a whole. Whether you were born and raised here or are a relative newcomer to the District, this is YOUR city and you have a stake in how D.C. will change and grow. So you are encouraged to attend to hear more about the proposal and provide your input. The community meetings are open to everyone and will be the same in every ward, so you should feel free to attend the one that is most convenient for you. Meetings dates and times are:
December 8, 2012 Saturday, 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 noon Ward 6
December 11, 2012 Tuesday, 6:30 P.M – 8:30 P.M. Ward 2
December 13, 2012 Thursday, 6:30 P.M – 8:30 P.M. Ward 8
January 5, 2013 Saturday, 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 noon Ward 1
January 8, 2013 Tuesday, 6:30 P.M – 8:30 P.M. Ward 3

Where do we get Ward specific fliers?
We have now added the ward-specific fliers under the “Fact Sheet” section found in the column to the right. Thanks for reading.
Looks like some Ward Fact sheets are missing, while others are repeated. As of now (12/7/12) there are no Fact Sheets posted for Ward 2, 6, and 8.
Bryan, thanks for letting us know. The links to the fact sheets should now be correct.
I never saw locations posted for the meetings, and I missed my meeting date (Ward 6 on December 8). Did the locations get posted elsewhere? There were several postings on the Newhilleast listserv about the meetings before they happened, but nothing since. Are there any kind of transcripts or notes available? Also, I want to make sure that the meeting locations for upcoming meetings are posted here, or that I know where they will be posted. Thanks.
Mr. Fitzgerald, thank you for your questions. The meeting dates are available on the blog (see the “Upcoming Events” section on the left column) and the website. There are also numerous other blog postings which include the dates and locations and I have included the dates and locations in this email, below. All eight meetings are exactly the same so if you missed the meeting for your ward you are welcome to attend a meeting in a different ward and receive the same information. The presentation slides from the meeting are available on the blog (see the “Selected Publications” section on the right column).
